If the server has Mercurial installed, I'll most likely get the paid/ad-free hosting (at least if my site becomes popular). Is it installed or, if not, is it a reasonable addition?

Are you looking for something more Web-based for source code management?
Mercurial is not installed on the server but Eli (the admin) can probably check for you.

I have the code for my site in Bitbucket, and if I get SSH access it'd be nice to be able to just "hg pull" my changes instead of using FTP.

Hg is not installed but git is and you could probably use that.
