College Startup & Learning to Code

2 posts in this topic

Hi all, I'm Joel,

I'm a Junior in college starting up a grocery delivery service. I am big into entrepreneurship and try to learn as many skills as I can. In that regards I have been trying to teach myself to code. Using Codecademy I have learned basic HTML and CSS, but I'm not too sure where to move on from there. Some have suggested Python as the next step. To those of you out there experienced in coding what would you recommend? Any useful resources you know of or advice from when you started coding? Thanks in advanced!

Hey Joel -

Looking through the recent intros, you seem to be one of a few real people who are posting here. :)

Don't know where you are in the process, but it's hard to go wrong with JavaScript and jQuery.  Here's a great page on how to jump on that: http://javascriptissexy.com/how-to-learn-javascript-properly/

Also, how is the grocery delivery service going?  Do you have any potential clients?  Would it be worth hiring a developer on odesk?
