Is Name.com a good domain name registrar? I'm trying to find a good one that hasn't increased their prices. Has anyone used it, any problems with it?

Lately I've registered a couple of domains under them.

Mainly because of lower prices on .com and .net and they have cheaper WhoIs privacy feature. And setting your DNS is quite a breeze to use.

So far no problems on this registrar.
      you can call me Ace.

What you stated (http://name.com/) is quite nice, it's probably one of the best i've seen so far.

I would of recomended http://namecheap.com/ thats what I use to buy my domains, because I don't have an credit card, and I can use PayPal directly to pay for the domain, but it's higher than $8 dollars now.

dont like them, I love namecheap, so what if its higher prices? Its the absolute best register ever. and considering you get free whois privacy (a normally 15-30 dollar feature) for free with every domain you buy from them it`s definately worth it!

      I just bought http://pulsegfx.net from name.com

Very cheap $5.99 (?2.94 British Sterling) for 1 year.

Besides the glitch they had in there pay system for about a few mins, everyone else was quick and simple :)

I would defiently buy more domains from there if I needed them!

I am really surprised at the price of .in domains at namecheap. its $21 but believe me .. u can a domain for $8 Per Year at http://registry.sify.com in India .
Normally they sell it at $12 , the regular price and During "Diwali" they sold at $5 for new registrations.

I cant understand this huge price difference Between Sify and Namecheap.

Why don't you like 'name.com'? There must be a reason.

I think that would be the fact the the .in domains from sify are sold from india? But if i need a .com.au domain... I would only buy it from an Australian site. Its cheaper that way!

Okay, I had no idea :P. I still like namecheap for the free whois guard.. Plus i have never had a problem creating nameservers, assigning nameservers and all the little extras. I guess i'm happy to pay the extra for a .com but if it was double then i would definatly be looking at name.com :D.. As for now, i'll stick with namecheap. The 30+ domains I have with them i have never had the slightest problem. Plus the NS register pretty much within minutes, seconds sometimes (except for the fact of living in AUS, thanks eli and his OpenDNS :D)

      Thank you Kindly,

Of course you can buy a domain, even if you are from Argentina. :) If you can't just pop them an email.

Name.com seems to be nice, according to your experience with it. By the way.. what does mean that it comes with google apps? (gmail, talk, etc) how does it makes the domain service better?

      What about godaddy.com?

I'm planning to buy a .net domain next year :)

      Google Apps
Google apps is bassically where you can use the likes of Gmail, I remember once Google had this beta running called: Google Domains, where you could connect your domain with Google Gmail, it worked pretty well, I guess this is the same thing, except all you have to do is click a few buttons and you are instantly activated with Google and you can use yourname@domain.com freely, via Google service.

Plus, with this service, you can make up to 500 emails (I believe) from which pertain to your domain extension. And you can give emails to your forum users or typically anyone and all they have to do is visit your domain to login to their/your email. :)

Works well, I use it and love it.
