Best anti-virus

So I was looking for a good anti-virus program and I was wondering what one do you think is the best?
I personally use AVG, and it's been pretty good to me. - though it sometimes does slow down your computer. But generally it's been good to me.
And you?

Paid for then i would agree with what has been said, either kaspersky or McAffee, kaspersky being my personal fav, although i wasn't aware of the free version, thanks for pointing this out to me
