Proxy Hosting coming soon to Vlexo.com!

We have been looking into the web hosting market specifically the proxy hosting side of things, we in future hope to offer and provide proxy hosting, so those with the need of opening up a proxy will be able to using our services. Looking on a lot of forums specifically DigitalPoint, there is a huge demand for ?reliable? proxy hosting, from which other companies cannot provide due to lack of funds or purely overselling their services thus making their server go kaput.

I was wondering, what do you guys thin of us introducing proxy web hosting?

Sounds really interesting. So I am assuming this would just be for people to host their own proxy scripts to allow anonymous traffic?

Though there are many proxy hosts. I don't believe Velxo would want to breach into that area.  Mostly because users of Proxy websites only use them to do illegal (or unapproved of) acts (i.e. porn and circumventing school and work filters).  All of which could come back at vlexo for aiding in the illegal acts of e-users.  We don't want to be known for that do we?

I don't think Vlexo can be help responsible for the acts of the users as long as they state that in their terms and users agree to them. You would still have to monitor the sites to make sure they aren't doing anything illegal that could get Vlexo in trouble.

All Proxy accounts will have to agree to a tight TOS. Yeah, good points Necro!

Proxies are used for a multitude of reasons, not just illegal usage, services can be abused just as anything and they will be dealt with.

      Hey,

Thanks for the interest guys, however I'm wondering, what would you rather:

      WHMReseller
      Proxy Hosting

WHMReseller - Would require us to purchase a dedicated server with cPanel/WHM installed - Dual Core - 4GB of RAM - 3TB of Bandwidth - 250GB of Webspace. (We don't want to install WHMReseller on our current servers due to the memory usage on which WHMReseller takes up) However with WHMReseller installed, you could sell/create reseller accounts, though it would be very limited. (You would have to pay extra for this feature)

      Proxy Hosting
      - People can of course purchase proxy hosting. Same kind of server however installed with less resource intense softwares thus making it possible to provide a clean and reliable proxy service. Especially with the 4GB of RAM. :)

So which one sounds more appealing?

Is it really necessary that we buy a dedicated server for proxy hosting? Can't proxies be hosted on shared accounts? Maybe just for personal use. Just wondering....

Proxies can be hosted on shared environments however it's not recommended if that shared environment is not optimized or put on a segregated dedicated server just for that kind of resource intense usage. Thus why the 4GB, Dualcore server is necessary to get pass the worry that the server will go kaput, once a proxy receives huge hits.

We are saying that these proxies will be put on a 'shared environment', however on a powerful dedicated server, meaning we will not be offering dedicated server(s). (If that's what you meant)

      :)

As for WHMReseller, this gives our resellers the ability to resell, resellers account(s) initially however this comes at a price, we are not the kind of host to give the user unlimited account creations as we do not want to overload our servers with useless accounts or reseller(s) abusing the resources they are given. Thus why we need a powerful server, even if the resource limit, is limited on these created resellers, there are going to be a lot of them. Heck, we might even introduce both services and see how things pan out, WHMReseller and proxy hosting is very big in the hosting market; so it might work out quite well depending on how we do it.

I think that's a much smarter idea (releasing both and watching the results).
