Hi,

Yesterday I uploaded my website to my account. It contained wordpress, so I had to make a database and re-do the entire blog. (A hassle indeed) So, I completed that and my site was working fine, as was my blog found at www.perishingflames.com/wordpress . Now, today I tried to navigate there and it says 'Error establishing database connection.' I went into cpanel, and what do you know? The database and user for my blog had disappeared.

What the heck is going on?

Thanks.

It's been happening quite a lot. Don't worry it should be back up soon.

Hmm, yes, it will be back. But now I don't know if it is gonna be "soon". Right now, aprox 10 hours have transcurred since the SQL Server went down. :(

I know the Vlexo staff told us not to create topics related to this issue, but geez.... 10 hours and counting.....  :cry

The databases "dissapear" when the MySQL socket on the server goes down from too much memory use.  A simple server restart will fix it or when activity slows enough for it to re-activate itself.

May I suggest starting to do backups on your databases?  So IF they do get removed you can restore from a backup.  You are backing up the databases and your site right?

MySQL is back online.  Every DB should be back.

Like Fire G kindly explained the databases only disappear when the MySQL socket is down, regardless of how long the databases are gone as long as you personally did not delete the database(s) that look like they are missing then they are still there, just a error is making you believe they are missing.

We usually restart the MySQL Service through WHM but it rarely works anymore, so a graceful server reboot usually does the trick.

Sorry for this and it will be sorted soon.

      Glad it's working.

However I know the annocument does say don't create any topics about MySQL and this topic doesn't exact ask why it's down but try not to create topics like this, as they are starting to clutter the place.

My answer above this post should clear everything up for you.
