EDIT:
Still wondering about the below, but I've figured out how to do the same thing using CURL.

=====

HI.  I'm trying to learn to use my new free site - and also to use Cygwin.  I've made some good progress in the past day or so - but still need to learn how to have my local machine FTP my result file up to my vlexo site.  Doesn't "sound" all that hard...  But, you never know.

Anyway - Here is what I'm putting in the command line to get the data transfer attempted...

Owner@gary ~
$ wput ftp://MYUSER:MYPW@ftp.swoop.vlexo.net/dif.txt

and here is what Cygwin is responding with:

--17:53:16-- 'dif.txt'
    => ftp://swoopftp:xxxxx@209.188.83.160:21/dif.txt
Connecting to 209.188.83.160:21... failed!
Waiting 10 seconds... Connecting to 209.188.83.160:21... failed!

For what it's worth, I did do the Filezilla FTP configuration bit (where a file gets placed on my local machine and then I run it to update my registry)...

Can someone there please give me a hand?   (feel like I'm just THIS close on this stuff....)

Thanks !

Gary

      I guess you are running in ftp errors ... this is one of the bad things about cpanel, if you create additional users like "test" their ftp account is called "test@.vlexo.net" which can not be handled by ftp in default mode or at least I do not know how. (guess there is a trick how to convert this @*but I googled a bit and did not find it).

      So what you want to do is only possible with the root account.

      like you said:
      ftp://:@ftp..vlexo.net

      where stands for your username with the password and is your subdomain.

      Hope that is what you are looking for.
      Regards,
      Jan J

      Yes - thanks Jan.  One thing I've realized based on this is that my ftp username really is that very long string (I had been thinking that it was just the swoopftp part of my name and it's really that entire 25 or 30 character name)...  I appreciate your help!
