I've been coding for more than 6 years now, in that space of time the internet have evolved so quickly that what I was learning at the start in design factors is completely different now. I've been focused on my skills to code css, xhtml and work with javascript since 2008, and I reckon I've come a very long way since my early designs. So any feedback for this one would be wonderful.

So today ladies and gentlemen, I would like to present my first ever slightly-not-finished-but-you-get-the-jist website template. Just click the image below to go to the current design. *Note, if you don't like lots of use of colour you may not like this  *

All feedback and creative criticism is helpful to my designing skills.

I like it. I think it was a well thought out design. The paint splatter appears to flow smoothly and isn't just.. 'there' you know.

However, its just a personal preference, but I never liked designs that sat on the left of a page. It just seems like such a pain to have to look to the left side of my monitor. It makes everything look off.. unnatural if you will. I find myself having the urge just to move my entire body to the left just to center the website. Your eyes just naturally tend to focus on the center of whats in front of you so it doesn't make sense (to me anyway) to make a design that sits on the left side of a the page. Not to mention it leaves half my screen with nothing but empty space (but that's pretty much because of my wide screen monitor/resolution).

On a side note, that burger upsets my stomach just from looking at it.

      Other then that, nice job.

      Take it easy.

I think the width is fine, and that's how it shows the content off nicely, but maybe from the feedback I have I could re-design it to sit in the centre, with the addition of a sidebar.

You are right, from eRott's post of his screen resolution,  and I'll have a look. It's the problem on designing things on a 1200x800 widescreen laptop, is that things look fine to me and the majority of people with the 1024px screens but then the people with different sizes see the web pretty differently. Lot's of blank space I would imagine. :D

Just use browsershots.org to test the website in order screen sizes. I have a major hate of website designs that are narrow and are directed to one side of the screen. I just prefer a wider look and I think that you should do that with this design as well.

      Very nice.

I could also add my two cents by adding.. If you can to get the structure in % not in px.. Then again I have no idea how to exactly do that..

So here is another two cents:

Template is too flashy for my taste, although I like the way how it's done - fixed background and scrolling effect. And nice image borders. You might add your credits
in footer, and some other stuff.

p.s. In header you should add title wet paint so it doesn't say untitled document.
