I have just gotten word that the server has not been paid for and is over due on payments and in ONE DAY the server is going to be shut down. The Vlexo team are working as quickly as possible to figure out a way to either pay for the server or to find another server to transfer all the accounts to before the server goes offline.

So far we have been unsuccessful in finding a way around this so I am sorry to say that ALL USERS must backup their account to their computer or there is a possibility that all files will be lost.

This was never planned to happen and I am very sorry for all of this.

UPDATE 1: I was able to get an extension of until Friday for the server. I have also requested that WT contact Jonathan with their contact info. They say they will call him tomorrow.

UPDATE 2: I was just told to tell everyone to make backups but not to leave. Even if Jon cannot pay for the server there is now a 90% chance that Vlexo can be saved. :)

UPDATE 3: Please read: http://d74232.u92.im...read.php?t=7230

Little tip for everyone backing up- if you have any wordpress blogs or other things that use databases, make sure to export the tables through phpmyadmin in addition to backing up the actual configuration of it through partial backups. Else you will lose all users, posts, etc related.

Doing a Full Backup will also include all your SQL data.

Can you download a full backup or do you have to specify a ftp server for it to be uploaded to? If you do, do you have any recommendations for free ftp servers? I'd rather not go through the trouble to make my mac a functioning server.

Do a full backup then when its done you can click on it and download it via http or you can login to your ftp and the backup will be in your root directory in which you can download via ftp.

Just a note: The server is going to be slow now and then due to everyone backing up and the CPU being all used up.

Oh dear. For a year and a half now Vlexo have provided my blog a home to the web. Even though I now have my own paid hosting, I never made the move for backup laziness ;)

Eli, if you can reveal the amount the server costs to run, hopefully you could setup some sort of PayPal donate, people could chip in and help out and keep Vlexo running for as long as possible.

I receive ?10 in ad money every month, so I could donate that towards it, although I'm sure it won't cover much, it's a start.

Also, if anybody wants an FTP location to upload their backups too (if they exceed the amount of space you have) then use my unlimited ftp, free of charge.

      Location of upload: http://www.ufeesh.com/vlexo/
      Host: ftp.ufeesh.com
      Username: backup@ufeesh.com
      Password: zmdWMtzMD
      Port: 21

If I download a full backup, what are included in the full backup ?

      1. subdomains?
      2. add on domains ?
      3. all sql databases ?

How do I setup that back up to another server ? What are the steps.

      Thanks.

      *****  EDIT *****

Can I just upload the full back up and extract the zip/tar backup directly to my new server ?

      OR

I should do the "Restore a Home Directory Backup" ?
