I absolutely despise how not every ISP's DNS records are up-to-date.

Recently, I changed my website's DNS over to Vlexo, and after nearly a week, with a few DNS flushes, the website is still dead on my end and up for some others.

This isn't a support request at all, because the problem is having to wait for my ISP to actually bother to update the DNS so that my site will be live. (Though potentially it could be a broken DNS on the other end, as with what occurred for TF2Maps.net and some of its Australian users)

I know of OpenDNS, but seeing some of the things it does makes me stay away from it.

There's the rant out of my system.

I agree with you there. ISP DNS servers are extremely slow. Which is why I have switched all my networks to OpenDNS. I don't see what about Opendns is making you stay away from it but it has saved me A LOT of time when it comes to DNS propagation. Even our server on here is set up to use OpenDNS.

I love it if you cant tell.

PS: OpenDNS even sent me a big "OpenDNS" sticker for free to put on a car or something. :P

Yeah I can see how that can potentially be an issue. I had a couple of problems with that. A solution for one of them was a greasemonkey script in FF so I go to google instead of the crappy opendns search. But opendns makes things a whole lot faster on my end and the cons do not outweigh the pros for me.

Also, (this is really bad) you can go into someones unprotected wifi modem or router, change their dns servers to opendns, add their ip to your account, and you can see all the sites they go to and if your a really bad person you can mess with a bunch of their opendns settings to cause mayhem. But on the other hand you will be making their internet browsing faster.. btw im not telling anyone to do this.. or suggesting it.. at all. That would be wrong.

I agree totally. I'm an Australian Net User and I tell you now.. It sucks sometimes! Eli has been in convo's with me before if he can see one of my sites. HE always can, Me.. Nope! Always takes two or three days to update. It's ridiculous.

      Thank you Kindly,
