So to inform everyone, here is a rundown some of the tentative VlexoFree changes so far:

  • The ads are going to change so I can manage the money going in and out since Jon is not around anymore and I need more control over the system to give everyone here more options, features, and make everything easier for you all. :)
  • Users will no longer need to manually enter our ad code on their page. If ads change its a pain to have to change every page and update the code. So the new system is all you have to do is enter something like
    <!--VlexoFree_AdCode_200x200-->
    into your website where you want the ad, and the new mod for apache I installed will replace that code with the corresponding ad code automatically.
  • I'm thinking ads as well as a VlexoFree link with have to go on every page instead of the main page now. Feel free to debate this here.
  • Addon domains will now be checked for ads and link.
  • A good donation will allow you to remove the ads/link for a month or so without being suspended or terminated.
  • Plans will change. Either one more plan will be added or the number will stay the same. Not sure yet.
  • If you can see the request process on the VlexoFree website.
  • If donations are enough to support the service then ads on the board and website will be removed (the ads are really the only thing thats going to keep us up right now)
  • I'm going to try to find a system to more accurately detect users with multiple accounts and IPs. Also, once requests open up again a new rule will be added specifying "Only one account per household". This will remove the problem of people making an account for a "friend". Lastly, if you wanna help out and are a programmer who can create scripts for linux, cpanel, etc, PM me!
  • As I remember them maybe I'll add them here. But sadly this post was a "break" from homework which I really need to get done.

      What exactly will the changes to existing plans be?

      And I assume the new ads will continue to be unobtrusive as per currently

      The changes will be completely new plans. But no one is really active to help me construct these plans. :(

      Oh, and the new ads will be the kind that cycle between those talking video ones and the ones that when you hover over them they expand over all your content.

      Haha, im joking, they will be picture and text ads. :P

      I personally would still run for the lowest-grade plan having no ads on it.

      And oh my god, I hate those hover ads soo much. :P

      Mmmm, the rules and TOS page seems to have been tidied up - much clearer now. You may want to note how the google ads require a privacy page about the tracking cookie and optout instructions though

      These restrictions and terms adsense has are insane. I dont think I'm going to put you guys through what all the crap they want from their publishers.

      I've been searching for the past few days from an alternative. Microsoft publisher is a no, Adbrite (your current ads) denied me because they have stopped accepting free hosting sites, commission junction im not liking very much.., I just signed up for yahoo's beta program, I dont know how long thats going to take... :(

      Casale Media = no
      valueclick = no
      Adbrite = no
      Chitika = no

      Those ads only work when the person coming to the page with ads, comes there from a search engine. I dont like that.

      Right now I'm testing out Project Wonderful ads. I like the name and their stuff is pretty good. I'll see how they do.

      That is a pretty good name XD Do they provide text units too? On the vlexofree.com site the graphic ones are being squashed which looks awful

      I see nothing being "squashed" the picture ads look fine to me. And I picked both image and text ads but its a bidding process where advertisers bid on the ad spot so the highest bidder wins.
      Also I made it very clear that "NSFW" ads are not allowed. If you guys see any questionable ads let me know and I can ban the advertiser.

      Yeah, seems to be fixed now - might just have been my browser. The only problem I have with it are the white lines between the adverts on the vlexofree site, however my sites theme is white so that wont be a problem. They look good to me!

      Are multiple sites hosted per person against the rules? Because I set up a site with vlexo, what, a year or so ago and then another one several months ago and you guys didn't seem to have an issue with it  :unsure:

      I know the username for perishingflames.com is pfmbg, I think for aaronsrealm.com it is aaronb. To be honest, I really don't need aaronsrealm, but I do need it up for a week or so because it has my school project as the website so if the website is down that won't be too good for my grade  :lol:
