Old Vlexo to New VlexoFree

If you have an account from before the creation of VlexoFree then your account needs to be moved over to the new setting.

The new plans are:

Personal 300
Quota (MB) 300
Bandwidth (GB) 5
Max FTP Accounts 2
Max Email Accounts 2
Max Email Lists 2
Max Databases 2
Max Sub Domains 2
Max Parked Domains 5
Max Addon Domains 1

This plan requires a link back to VlexoFree on all displayed pages.

Expert 2000
Quota (GB) 2
Bandwidth (GB) 20
Max FTP Accounts 10
Max Email Accounts 10
Max Email Lists 10
Max Databases 5
Max Sub Domains 10
Max Parked Domains 20
Max Addon Domains 4

This plan requires a link back to VlexoFree and an Ad on all displayed pages.

For this to be done and make it easier for me and the staff, please put our new ad on all your pages (if your plan requires), make sure you have our link back on all the pages, and if you have a platinum account choose between Personal 300 or the Expert 2000 package to switch to. Once you have all that post here and we can move you over and check you off :)

If you are ready to have your account moved over, post here and ask for your site to be checked.

Furthermore, if you have a domain, you MUST change the nameservers to ns1.vlexofree.com and ns2.vlexofree.com AFTER you prove you comply.

For info on how to add the new linkback and/or ads to your site go to http://vlexofree.com...your-web-pages/

For the basic vlexo account ( the one with linkaback) what do we need to do?

So, Eli, if I got you right, that means that only thing that changes is linkback. No longer www.vlexo.com but www.vlexofree.com - for alpha plan.

I'm not sure I understood you for putting link-back on all pages? Is this necessary now, or is it still required only on index page, as before*?*

I've added the linkback comment to all the pages on cyberspies.vlexo.net. However, the comment method only seems to work on the wordpress part, and not the forum or the main site and I'm not really sure why.

On the footer next to "Uses graphics from Pidgin and Tango Desktop."

      http://test.cyberspi...lexo.net/Forum/
      Right at the bottom

Working: http://blog.cyberspies.vlexo.net/ right at the bottom

Link back on all pages seems like a bit to much. Don't get me wrong, I'll put it there, but what are you gonna do - check ALL pages, and suspend each account that doesn't have it.
Seems like a lot of job to do. It's understandable if user has a forum, and wp blog, lets say, but lots of HTML pages... hmmmm....

@malcom...I think that a linkback in all your webpages is a small pay to the fact that vlexo gives you FREE QUALITY HOSTING... try other free hosting services and you'll see that the uptime is very bad and the support feature is the worst you can get :)

I don't think that they'll check all the webpages but it depens on the honesty of the person. B)

It would be possible to do with a proxy, which may be what they use to change the linkback comments to actual links..

If a user has lots of html pages that are connected to one website then it would seem logical to use some kind of include (php, shtml, etc) to keep things consistant, in which case they just have to edit the included footer.

And we're not going to go into your public directory and look at each an every page you have in there, but we will go to your site and pick a handful of pages to look at. If they're all fine and dandy then at least we know you tried.

I put the new advert onto my homepage but I haven't had time to put it anywhere else, I'll try put it up on all my pages this week, but I'm not certain (school, ect)

And about the PHP footer you mentioned, I didn't think about putting a PHP footer, and now I have to put it on every page manually, What if someone doesn't know "PHP" and have to put this in their footer on every page, it won't make them particularity happy

Oh yea, and Eli, who do you host with? If it's Vlexo, then really you should put the ad and linkback too ;)

Not a clue. I'll just add it manually if that's ok with you?

Yeah, you can say whatever you want for the link. But if you're site cant use the comment then that means others will have the same problem :(

Once you have the links all up, post, and I will move your account over.

It's strange that it works for the wordpress blog but not for the other subdomains. Does mod_substitute work as apache serves each http request or is it something more complicated? Maybe, its only affecting certain subdomains..

Do you by chance have a setting in your cms software or whatever you're using, to serve pages compressed/gzipped?

I'll have to confirm it with my friend but I think we do have it gzipped compressed. Would that be the cause of the problem then?

It might be, try disabling it and see if it works. Also on a further note, I have mod_deflate installed and have it set to compress most/all web pages. So having a setting for it doesn't do much good :P . So in a way im forcing the compression of everyone's webpages, this saves you, and us bandwidth and it lets other people download pages on our server faster. I did it mostly for the faster downloads. You can thank me later :P
