What version of PHP would you like on the server?

  1. 5.2 ( Stable, compatible) (17 votes [56.67%] - View)

I'm going to let the members here choose which version they would like one the server. Cast your vote.

In the mean time, I'm looking for a way to have both version.

Keep in mind, the world doesn't stop moving forward just because a few people aren't happy with what happening. In other word, if we all had to wait to upgrade server software just because a few scripts have incompatible crappy code (iPanel!!!!) then the server would never to updated. ever.

      I'm saying 5.3, purely because 5.2 completely shizzzled my MediaWiki installation, twice!

      I'm interested to see how this poll goes!

      I suggest we stay with the stable release, because the new features are not that important for most users.

      I'm quite surprised to see only a few votes in this poll. While I'm new to PHP, I have a strong background in OO languages. PHP namespaces are a significant step in the right direction for OO support in PHP. It's very easy to emulate java style packages and have all classes autoload. In any case, I was very happy to find a host supporting PHP 5.3 and I hope everyone finds success with it.

      I also agree with you there, however it is a 50/50 poll at the moment, so who knows what way it will go!

      I'd probably say 5.3 in the longrun. I was originally all for going back to 5.2 since 5.3 gave me all sorts of odd errors on my scripts. However, once you fix them up, they run quite well.

      I'd have to agree chr0nik in saying its hard to find a host with php 5.3.

      I vote 5.2
      i always stick with the most recent stable release until a new stable release emerges
      it ensure minimal bugs in the system
