Hi I have a HTPC(Home Theatre PC) like setup with my TV but it only has 384MB RAM and ATI Radeon . CPU is P4 1.6GHz

I know the Graphics card is capable of Compiz but i'd like to know of a Distro that has a nice GUI(really nice) and has lower RAM requirement than Ubuntu, openSUSE, Fedora, Redhat, Mandriva.

I don't want puppy linux or SDL because i don't like the GUI
i don't want Slackware because of some complications in hardware

So i'd like a free distro with low system requirements and a really nice GUI, with a large app database and driver support

Any Suggestions, thanks

      ArchLinux. <- My favorite distro.

You should have command line experience though. It installs with only base/core packages and you install everything else from there. Which means theres no gui when you install. It is exactly what you want it to be.

Question: How do you know you're talking to an ArchLinux User?
      Answer: He will tell you.

You will not find distro with nice GUI and low RAM requirements.
      You can try ancient Windows.

I like Linux Mint, low system requirements and uses the GNOME desktop environment! Uses the same package database as Ubuntu, so lots of stuff. Has a simple yet effective GUI, and supports compiz and desktop effects! You should also look into the BSNC if you duel boot with windows.
      Zngga has Arrived!
