Apache mod_xsendfile

5 posts in this topic

I am trying to send files from my non-public/static folders, using the the mod_xsendfile module for Apache, but it doesn't seem to work as I am always getting 1-byte files.

I also tried to add the required instructions for starting this module in my ~/public_html/.htaccess, but got a message saying "500, internal error". These are the lines I wrote there:

XSendFile on

XSendFileAllowAbove on

Elli, have you got any ideas, if you have this module installed on your server?

Of course, there is always the alternative of providing the files visible and static, but still it would've been far better the other way.

Thanks!

Its not working because the module is not currently installed on the server.

Thanks, Eli!

From your laconic answer, I gather you're not going to install it just for me? It's fine by me, however this is a really popular module and I thought you might want to have it. Would you confirm you position on the question so that I could update my code accordingly?

Thanks a lot!

By the way, the site will be up and running by the end of the week.

For the record. I know you are a busy man, Eli, so I won't be bothering you any further with this issue. I'd like to inform you that my code is no more relying on this module, i.e. I put the book files in the public directory.

Thank you for your cooperation!
