Hi, I had an idea for a forum that would act as a community and support group for a series of books written by a certain author (the books all link to the same concept). The forum would be split by book and maybe some other general interest areas. My question is, what are the legality of these kinds of unofficial forums?
I mean, I see them all the time, but are they really unofficial, or have they obtained some kind of permission from the copyright owner.

Finally, (to the admin of vlexo), would you be willing to allow the hosting of such a forum?

I'm looking forward to anyone's opinion on the subject :)

      Cool! :)
I've installed fluxbb on my homepage and am just having a play around with it. The install was very easy and the forum is nice and light, just the way I like it. Once I get comfortable using it, I'll put a request for it to have its own domain and reinstall it there.
